Dispatcher
San Diego, CAResponsive Medical Services (RMS) is seeking a Dispatcher to join our talented team of emergency medical care professionals to utilize and monitor the system status plan, properly deploying and monitoring the status and location of all on-duty units and ensuring the efficient and appropriate use of all units and ambulance personnel.

What you’ll do:
- Receive and dispatch requests for emergency and non-emergency patient transport to Emergency Medical Technicians, Transport Nurses, and other staff.
- Answer incoming administrative, non-emergency, and emergency telephone lines in a courteous and professional manner.
- From incoming calls, promptly ascertain proper levels of response and allocate resources to match dynamic system demands.
- Triage calls and enter accurate data into the dispatch computer.
- Utilize sophisticated system status management computer system to monitor, update, and control the location and movement of units.
- Monitor all radio traffic while simultaneously listening for pre-alerts to incoming calls, pre alerting units, and putting units promptly on the scene to maintain system compliance.
- Dispatch and maintain radio (or other means) of communication with units.
- Complete and submit daily status reports, including, response time exceptions, response time compliance, exception percentage (by zone), and unusual incidents.
- Monitor system performance and communicate system demands to field while recognizing the needs, capabilities, and limitations of field personnel.
- Handle heavy phone activity, messages, filing, and clerical duties.
- Function as a public relations representative when dealing with facilities and/or agencies, etc.

You must also meet the following requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Dispatch or call intake experience preferred.
- California Driver’s License
- California Ambulance Driver License preferred.
- Acceptable driving record
- Current CPR-BLS Certification
- ETC or EMD license preferred.
- Ability to locate hospitals and major facilities in Orange County, Los Angeles County, and San Diego County areas.
- Ability to utilize effective communication skills with co-workers, patients, patients’ families, dispatch, and hospital staff, base stations, and interfacing agencies.
- Ability to type 30 words per minute accurately.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely in an understandable voice via radio, telephone, and in person.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
